I always liked what are often called objet d’art, small collectable objects that are an elegant combination of art and product. They take my drawing fascination with organic form into bas-relief and meet a long-standing interest in fossils. I became involved in the resurgence of hand papermaking in the 1970’s because of the ability of freshly formed paper pulp to hold deep sculptural detail revealed by light alone. But I had to create a process to achieve such depth of forming as there was no similar work being done. The “neofossils” were sold in many of the major museum stores in the US, including MOMA NYC, Contemporary Art Museum Houston, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Smithsonian Institute Washington DC. They are 4 x 4," made in editions of 200, signed and numbered, in plastic display boxes with fitted lids.
If you are interested in purchasing neofossils, here is the basic information: they are $80 each, 4 x 4,” individually formed in handmade cotton paper, signed and numbered in clear cases with removable lids. I use PayPal to make the transaction secure on both sides. Use the Contact form for more information and to purchase specific pieces. They are numbered left to right and top to bottom, 1 to 21.
